Terms of Service
Last updated: November 18, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the MaterialCal website ("the Site", "we", "us"). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.
1. Use of the Site
MaterialCal provides free online calculators for construction, landscaping, and material estimation. You may use the Site for personal or commercial purposes without registration, subject to these Terms.
You agree NOT to:
- Use the Site for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, our servers, or other users' data
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to extract data beyond what's permitted by our
robots.txt - Interfere with or disrupt the Site, including overloading our servers
- Misrepresent your affiliation with us or any other entity
- Copy, reproduce or republish substantial portions of our content without permission (see Intellectual Property below)
2. Calculator Accuracy and Disclaimer
Our calculators are estimating tools, not engineering substitutes. They produce theoretical results based on input dimensions and average material density values. Actual material orders should account for:
- Local supplier variation in density and grading
- Moisture content (wet materials weigh significantly more)
- Compaction and settling during installation
- Project-specific waste and irregularities
- Site conditions, drainage, and grading requirements
For any project involving structural integrity, building permits, or significant financial commitment, consult a licensed professional engineer, contractor, or architect. Our calculators are not a substitute for professional engineering judgment, code compliance review, or supplier-specific quotes.
We make reasonable efforts to ensure formulas, density values and pricing references are accurate and current. However, we make no guarantee of accuracy and accept no liability for decisions made based on calculator results.
3. Intellectual Property
All content on the Site — including calculator interfaces, design, text, images, code, formulas presentations, reference tables, and FAQs — is the property of MaterialCal or our content contributors, protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
You may:
- Use calculator results for personal and commercial projects
- Reference and quote short excerpts from articles with attribution and a link back to the source page
- Embed our calculators on your own site using our official embed code (when available)
You may not:
- Copy or republish substantial portions of our written content without permission
- Re-host our calculator code or recreate functionality that's substantially similar

Affiliate links may pay us a small commission if you make a purchase. This does not affect the price you pay. Our editorial recommendations are not influenced by affiliate relationships — we link to commonly accessible suppliers regardless of commission.
